Why People Like Lottery?
There
are plenty of statistical evidence showed the chance of winning lottery is
quite small but what are the reasons people still playing it? Is it because of
its attractiveness? In fact, we cannot deny that life persuades people to
maximize profit instead of saving money.
The
most persuasive reason is lottery is a very simple game by drawing a few
numbers for a chance of winning. More and more players focus on its expected
return (how much money they will get) and ignore looking the probability of
winning. They always see a small portion of loss but attractive huge profit.
However, the fact is they tend to lose the money in most of the times.
Like
most games, lottery brings excitement to the player as well. Once people see
the reward is very high, it leads to social hive-like mentality which is an
encouragement for them to buy the numbers. But in the end, Malaysia Lottery Result shows they often become too optimistic for
getting something. Further, the cost of buying lottery is relative less, maybe
a few ringgits. So, players have greater willingness to participate in lottery.
Another
psychological reason is availability bias. This is a concept of only showing
the positive information rather than the negative result. Casino always release
the jackpot winner at the front entrance but they never state those millions of
losers. On the other hand, “near miss” effect motivates gamers to keep trying.
When we check Malaysia Lottery Result,
we only get 70% of the right numbers, we definitely think we are so close to
the winning.
Last
but not least, even though some people realize lottery is low-probability game,
they still playing because of its entertainment value. Besides the economic
return, human is one kind of living thing that will be encouraged by more than
just monetary term. Irrational behavior is a good explanation for playing
lottery because some people are looking for excessive health.
